Cranberry 2, Ducks 1
This game was tight from the start. Both teams played well, great game overall.
We scored first when Dane singled then got to 2nd and 3rd on some nice reads on balls in the dirt. Stem doubled him home.
We got out of a bases loaded no out jam in the second, the first of a few jams in this game.
I would say the AB of the game was me getting Ben out, but there were probably bigger moments. Two outs and bases loaded, the patented Gwin single to RF seemed inevitable.
We got another in the 3rd when Stumpf scored on an Aaron single.
A walk, hit and run, and a single got them a run in the 3rd to make it 2-1.
Next big moment of the game came in the 5th when we loaded the bases with no outs and had last year's team MVP as well as 2 guys who were hitting north of .700 (in a super small sample) up.
Well if you like big moments there was another one in the bottom half. They had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and Nick threw the tying run out at the plate trying to tag to end the inning.
They got the tying run in scoring position again in the 6th but Jon got a K to end the inning.
In the top of the 7th with 2 outs Dugan doubled/tripled (semantics on if he got to third on his own or because the ball got thrown home) but Aaron was thrown out at the plate trying to score from first. Their LF line is shallow but in the situation with the chance to tack on another run we had to take the shot.
Then in the 7th they got the leadoff gut to 2nd with no outs, and then runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Wasnt looking great for us to win it in 7. Then after a walk, with the bases loaded they hit a grounder to 3rd and Dugan tagged the bag and got the double play at first to end it.
Terrifying to find out post game that Dugan didn't even know the score and thought we tied.
This was a great game overall. So many big moments. While we did literally just tie this one felt like maybe not playoff atmosphere but kind of. We pick it up again this Saturday where we get the undefeated Grizzlies. A win would be huge for playoff seeding with that one seed is so important this year. Need that win as a first step towards hopefully winning series and having the tiebreaker if it comes down to it.
