Cranberry 6, Ducks 3
Another battle with the Ducks.
We were pretty shorthanded for this one with Jack not being able to make it. A couple people playing in not so normal positions.
I started the first few innings at third, and thankfully nothing was hit to me.
Game started off with a single and he scored on a 2 out single to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead. And that would be it for a while for the Ducks. Jon faced the minimum in the 2-5th innings with just 1 walk in the 5th that was wiped out by a double play.
We took the lead in the 3rd. With 2 outs the top of the order had back to back walks followed by back to back hits. We left some runs on the board though, leaving them loaded.
In the bottom of the 5th Paige had a leadoff single and stole 2nd. Then made it to 3rd when a throw back to the pitcher went into the outfield. I singled on a drawn in infield and we had 4 more hits in the inning to take a 6-1 lead.
They pushed 2 across in the 6th on a 2 out hit. Then we left them loaded again in the bottom of the 6th.
A soft liner/pop up dropping behind the mound to start the 7th. Then they put runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Jon finished it off with a fielders choice and strikeout to end the game.
Things could have gotten really interesting in a hurry with the tying run at the plate and the top of their order up but we got out of there with another win.
We have a doubleheader tomorrow where we honestly aren't any better on bodies. We have 9 players and a call up for game 1. I am just not trusting playing with 9. Then the call up leaves and Jon should be there for game 2 so we will have 10 for both games.
Bullpen is thin, and by thin I mean close to non existent. Our potential bullpen arms are people I need to play infield, so I am in the risky spot of banking on complete games. Need to win these 2 tomorrow.
