Weekend Sweep

We came into this weekend struggling for bodies. I pulled teeth to get 9 on Saturday, then we ended up with 10. We rolled pretty easily. The game was kind of over early, it was 7-1 after 2 innings.

We coasted a little and I let some people pitch who normally dont get to. They did score 2 in the 7th to make it look a little closer at 11-4 but it never really got close.

If we were shorthanded Saturday, I dont know what we were today.

We at least had people in normal positions so that was a plus. Hitting wise missing Dane, Dugan, Jack, Stem, Dillon, Aaron.

With that being said, the first three batters of the inning got on and scored to give us a 3-0 lead.

They got one back in the bottom half with 3 hits and a HBP, but Jon got out of the bases loaded jam. Getting out of jams will be a common thing here.

They got 2 more in the 2nd with the bottom of the order reaching and a bases clearing triple.

In the 4th we had runners on 2nd and 3rd but a grounder to short got the runner at the plate. Then with the bases loaded and 2 outs a bang bang play at first ended the inning.

They got the go ahead runner on third in the 5th with 2 outs but we got out of it again.

In the bottom of the 6th the first two batters reached base. A leadoff triple and a walk put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Jon struck out the next three batters to end the inning.

We got runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs in the 7th but their SS made great play number like 13 on a hard hit ball he dove and got the out at first to save a run.

In the bottom half the leadoff guy popped out then a single and a wild pitch put the winning run on 2nd.

Chalie may have possibly destroyed his ankle. I dont know what happened but didnt seem great. He gutted out the rest of the inning though.

A single up the middle put them on the corners with 1 out. We intentionally walked a guy then they hit a broken bat soft liner back to Jon who doubled off the runner at first.

Nick had a leadoff HBP then Mitch singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd. A ground ball potential double play turned into a run. They got the force at 2nd but the throw to first was low and not scooped. When the ball got away Nick scored the go ahead run.

Valenti singled and Scott walked to load them up for the aforementioned Chalie who at this point was struggling to move. I honestly almost told him to stand there and not swing because I assumed any type of ground ball would be a double play.

Well he hit a ground ball to third they went for the out at home but the throw was off and we scored. And Chalie miraculously made it to first. Then we got 1 more insurance run on a sac fly.

Things went 1-2-3 in the bottom half.

This was a huge win for us while missing so many people. The Bandidos are good. Im honestly shocked we won this one. Their lineup is deep, fielding is good, and solid pitching. We got lucky here. This win was big too, because we have a tough weekend coming up. Grizzlies Saturday and the Devils Sunday.

This one gave us a little extra cushion on getting one of those top 3 seeds, and within striking distance of the Grizzlies.
